Giovanni Paolo Panini was an XVIII-century Italian Baroque painter. This work represents Pope Benedict XIV's July 1744 visit to the Trevi fountain in Rome. In the canvas, the fountain is represented as if it were complete, but works didn't actually finish until 1762.
